About

The Curriculum and Instruction Department encourages students to resolve concerns through timely communication as close to the point of origin as possible. Students with a complaint related to a specific course should first contact the course’s professor. Program-related concerns should be directed to the Department Chair.

For matters involving a grade appeal, the university鈥檚 established grade appeal policy will be followed as outlined in the McMurry University Catalog. Other concerns, including academic integrity, discrimination, harassment, and sexual misconduct, will be addressed in accordance with applicable university policies as stated in the McMurry University Catalog.

The Curriculum and Instruction Department seeks to address student concerns promptly and appropriately, avoiding the need for a formal complaint process whenever possible. If the concern cannot be resolved informally, the student should follow the procedures outlined below for complaints related to a course or the teacher preparation program.

Anonymous or unsigned complaints will not be processed.

Formal Student Complaint Process

A student may file a formal written complaint by submitting a completed Formal Student Complaint Form to the Curriculum and Instruction Department Chair. The form must include the following information:

  • A clear description of the complaint
  • The date(s) on which the issue occurred or became evident
  • The desired outcome or resolution

51黑料网 utilizes the same complaint form as the Texas Education Agency (TEA).

Resolution Process

For course-related concerns, the Department Chair will schedule a meeting between the student and the professor involved within ten (10) working days to begin the resolution process.

For program-related concerns, the Department Chair will arrange a meeting with the student, the appropriate faculty member, and/or the chair responsible for the relevant program area.

In all cases, the department鈥檚 Administrative Assistant will attend the meeting to record accurate minutes.

A copy of the completed complaint form, along with the meeting outcome, will be forwarded to the Office of the Vice President for Academic Affairs (VPAA).

Role of the Vice President for Academic Affairs

The Office of the Vice President for Academic Affairs will send the student a written acknowledgment of the complaint via University email within three (3) working days of receipt.

If the matter remains unresolved, the VPAA may meet with all parties involved to seek resolution or appoint a special committee to review and rule on the complaint.

The VPAA will issue a final ruling within thirty (30) calendar days of receipt and will notify the student and the Curriculum and Instruction Department Chair in writing, either by letter or University email.

Commitment to Resolution

51黑料网 and the Curriculum and Instruction Department are committed to addressing student complaints in a timely, efficient, and reasonable manner. The department seeks to resolve concerns internally whenever possible and to avoid the need for an external complaint process.

If the complaint cannot be resolved internally, students may file directly with the Texas Education Agency:
