51黑料网 Procedure
Students must submit a written application for admission to clinical teaching at least one semester prior to the anticipated clinical teaching semester. An orientation meeting will be held each semester. Students should contact the Curriculum and Instruction Department early in the semester to confirm the date, time, and location of the meeting.
In extreme circumstances, applications for fall clinical teaching may be accepted as late as July 1. However, submission of a late application does not guarantee placement for the fall semester. Placement in such cases is dependent upon circumstances beyond the control of the Curriculum and Instruction Department. Students are strongly encouraged to meet all established application deadlines.
Students must complete and pass all required certification exams for their certification area as required by the State of Texas. If a student does not pass an exam on the first attempt, the student must wait thirty (30) days before retaking the exam. The State of Texas allows a maximum of five (5) attempts per certification exam.
Fingerprinting and background checks are required.
Application for certification must be completed before a student can be recommended for a standard certificate.
Field Experiences and Criminal History Checks
The Curriculum and Instruction Department is committed to providing McMurry students with meaningful classroom experiences throughout their educator preparation program. Many courses include an embedded field experience component, which provides hands-on learning opportunities in local schools. The number of required field experience hours varies by course.
Before clinical teaching and all field-based experiences, students must complete school district criminal history checks. The State of Texas also requires a criminal background check before an individual may receive Texas teacher certification. Additional information regarding certification requirements is available on the Texas Education Agency website.
Texas Administrative Code 搂227.101(c) states that a person who is enrolled in, or planning to enroll in, a State Board for Educator Certification-approved educator preparation program, or who is planning to take a certification examination, may request a Preliminary Criminal History Evaluation Letter. This letter provides information regarding the person鈥檚 potential ineligibility for certification due to a conviction or deferred adjudication for a felony or misdemeanor offense.
